PFS was born from ashes of Slovak doom/death metal band Alone In The Dark, which splitted in 2007 after frontman Fedor’s movement to Czech Republic and following incapability of the band to adapt to this situation. PFS has arisen from last ideas of AITD, which Fedor were slowly writing alone following year, when 4 songs were created. In 2008 symbolically on the AITD’s death anniversary, he recorded those four songs and founded one-man project Passion For Sorrow. The official web site passionforsorrow.ic.cz was also created on a free server and the songs were publicized there.

Year 2008 was stagnation for PFS because whole project froze in state of a hobby recorded at home. There wasn’t much effort from the side of its creator to promote PFS. Only a few people knew about it – PFS was deep underground. Besides it has very amateur sound.
Things changed at the end of 2008, when Fedor joined Prague’s doom band Et Moriemur on the guitarist post. At the same time he took the role of producer there because of previous experiences with home recording. He then started to study techniques of recording to develop better results than previous PFS recordings and PFS was a great material to experiment with... The result of re-recording was surprising in a good way and there were first very positive reactions not only from people who knew PFS before... Later the songs of Et Moriemur were recorded the same way of course.
The renaissance and arising of PFS as a band could be dated on the beginning of 2009, when bassist and Fedor’s ex-band-mate from AlTD Peter “Bzz” Straka recorded bass guitar into “My Inspiration”. As the recording went just cool, they have immediately agreed to record the bass into the rest of the production too. Peter officially joined the project. In that time the two-member leadership of PFS played with idea of making it a regular band, ideally based on AITD’s old headline. Therefore as next necessary part of the band was identified guitarist Matej Slaný. There’s only a drummer missing now to full headline. Martin Stríž unfortunately didn’t practice since the end of AITD, so he could not handle the rhythms of PFS at the moment. PFS needs very accurate drummer indeed because of individual way of practicing on a long distance (Fedor still lives in CZ and the rest in SK). That’s why the band sticks to the automat. However there is a plan to find a drummer in the future.
For the further development of the band mainly to the public there were necessary technical steps to be done for its presentation. Mastering was missing in the recordings, therefore Fedor started to study and experiment in this field again. After circa two months of hard work, in July 2009 the re-master of whole production was done. Month later, the band released first demo and moved the official site to its own domain passionforsorrow.com.
Year 2010 - another total stagnation of the project/band. Guys unfotunatelly didn't find much time and effort for PFS. So in August PFS closes another chapter and terminates cooperation with Bzz and Matej.
Then after PFS was about to finish. The situation is being saved by offer to participate in Infernal Party II show and with help of Fedor's colleagues from Et Moriemur. |After quite successfull gig, this "temporary" headline decides to stick together and once more PFS becomes a band again...
